Jennifer Angle is the owner and artist behind Wood & Word Blooms, a wood floral design studio in Coventry, CT, offering wood florals for weddings/events, gifts and decor as well as fun DIY Experiences in the studio and around CT. Jen began Wood & Word Blooms after she designed the wood flowers for her own wedding. Wood flowers are made from the natural pith of the Aeschynomene Aspera plant, which grows in tropical regions such as India and Thailand. The porous nature allows them to easily be painted or dyed and can even take in scent from essential oils. These flowers act as blank canvases for Jen to then design using different techniques from dip dying and hand painting to airbrushing and decoupaging.
What began as a small part time gig doing small floral gifts and wood flower arrangement parties while she spent her days teaching reading quickly bloomed into a full time business. After 20 years as an educator, Jen has transitioned to full time professional wood flower florist, even leading the wood flower industry as a member of the Wood Flower Florist Conference & Retreat planning committee and Presenter.
She prides herself on creating uniquely you florals that you can cherish long after a week or two. Clients are able to customize their arrangements by having their wood flowers in any style or any color at any time of year and they are a great option for those who have allergies or cannot have fresh flowers for any reason. While she loves her Connecticut clients, these flowers are also easy and convenient to ship nationwide.
